How we screen merchants
Lekha Pay sends partners only money from merchants that passed our checks. This page shows what those checks are, in plain words.
Before a merchant goes live
- Registration: we look at the business registration, GST number and the people who own it.
- Business model: we need to understand what the merchant sells and why its customers pay by UPI or bank transfer.
- Payment history: we ask for recent statements and refund records. A merchant with many chargebacks or unexplained reversals is turned away.
- Restricted lines: we do not take gambling without a licence, adult content, investment schemes promising fixed returns, or anything a bank in India would not accept.
While a merchant is live
Every night the reconciliation team compares each partner's statement with the merchant's own records. Lines that do not match are held, not forwarded. A merchant whose lines keep failing review is paused while we ask for an explanation.
What this means for partners
The money that reaches your account has a known source and a paper trail. If your bank asks about a credit, the desk can give you the merchant category and the reconciliation record within the same day.
If something looks wrong
If a credit arrives that you do not recognise, do not confirm it. Write to Nikhil or the desk with a screenshot of the line. Unknown money is checked first and paid later.
